Susan worked as the Creative and Technical Consultant, in addition to the Factory Manager for Ibex West from 2014 to 2017.
Founded in 1997 and headquartered in White River Junction, VT, Ibex designed and manufactured premium Merino wool outdoor clothing. The company was founded on the belief of the superior performance and inherent properties of natural Merino wool fibers. Ibex coupled this renewable resource with technical innovation and inspired design to create apparel for a diverse range of outdoor pursuits. Men’s and women’s styles were made from the best Merino wool fabrics sustainably sourced from New Zealand. Ibex has since closed.
CHICO'S / BOSTON PROPER
2016 - Present
Susan Abplanalp designed and produced these Dresses (including Fabric Design) for Chico’s FAS the Boston Proper Division. The Designs are original and were presented for review to the Boston Proper Team. They chose these from a look book that was presented to them with these Designs as well as many others, tailored especially for their brand.

These garments are a selection of Susan's "Smithsonian Collection" that she designed and made for the curated Craft2Wear event at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. in October 2016. Susan was invited to the event as a Designer working at California College of the Arts.

LESLEY EVERS
2012 - 2020
"Classic, feminine, and playful with a wink to the 1960s and 1970s" describes the aesthetic of Susan's work with Lesley Evers. Susan designed a line of dresses and jackets, working with Lesley to design and produce the garments. Once available to purchase on Lesley's website and store, the pieces became best sellers, and she produces them still. You can learn more about Lesley Evers here.
